We can offer a flight of about 20 minutes duration. This is an excellent introduction to the world of gliding. The feeling of peace coupled with the magnificent panoramic views can start you on your journey for life. This flight is made as a 'Trial Instructional Flight' which allows you to try your hand at the controls if you wish. All flights are made with our qualified instructors. In today's hustle and bustle it is an unrealistic expectation that you can afford a 7 day break to sample something you are uncertain of. We would encourage you to initially try the 'Air Experience Flight'. This will put your mind at ease and allow you to take the next step. If you like the idea of gliding and enjoyed your 'Trial Flight' you may either not have the time or not fully sold on the idea of taking a full learn to fly course. The 2 day Introductory Course is then for you. It is best completed over a weekend. What you get is 2 days being introduced to gliding and initial training in the basic skills of soaring. Our Learn to Fly Course is designed to take people through to flying solo. You would require between 25 to 40 flights in an intensive training course before reaching a standard suitable to fly solo, this can take 6 months or longer in a normal club situation flying weekends only. This course will give you 4 flights per day. It also includes all briefings, a copy of Basic Gliding Knowledge and a pilot’s logbook. All training is done in a modern fibreglass twin seated sailplane, which has dual controls. Learning is done in a very structured environment with the emphasis on hands on training. Courses normally begin on a Monday. This course is ideal for those who have always had aspirations to fly for enjoyment only, as well as those who intend to make a career out of flying. It is relatively cheap in comparison to power flying and the hours accumulated in gliding can be off set against the hours required for your power licence. Tailored courses to suit individuals/groups are available on request.
